The release of the RC version is approaching. This post will be pinned to the top for a week. I hope everyone can learn about the new taskbar and launcher through this post. Everyone can communicate in this post to avoid divergent feedback.
From the official release of the RC version to the release of the Release version, no new feature development will be carried out for the time being. When Release is released, we strive to achieve a stable version that can be used in production environments. Regarding the original unimplemented functions of the taskbar and launcher and the needs reported by other users in previous versions, such as: taskbar overflow, multi-screen taskbar independent display, and more flexible customization functions of the taskbar will be released in the Release version. It will be gradually improved during the iteration process of subsequent minor versions.
In this version, we have optimized and reconstructed the interface, functions, code, etc. of the launcher and taskbar.
The following content is a description of changes to the core functions of the launcher and taskbar and an introduction to their use:
RC starter
Window mode-free sorting
Comparing V20 and V23, the Beta3 launcher adds a free sorting function. As a brand-new launcher, what functions does it provide?
It supports free dragging. You can drag the apps you think are important to the top according to your usage habits (similar to favorites), so that every time you enter the launcher, you can quickly focus on what you think is important. application.
Supports grouping of application dragging: The window mode itself has limited display space. If there are too many applications, you can only search or drag the menu to find the application you need. With the grouping function, you can drag applications into a group. inside and place it where you need it.
The free sorting in window mode is unified with the application display order and application grouping logic in full-screen mode. This is what users often reported in the early stage, why there are groupings in full screen but no application grouping in window mode. When you drag the application display order in window mode, the application order in full-screen mode will also change synchronously. Conversely, when you change the application display order in full-screen mode, the window free mode will also change synchronously.
After window mode application grouping, the application group name will be generated by default, which can be modified in the application group window name.

Application classification inherits the original usage logic
The classification index function is added in the classification mode, and the required classification application can be quickly located through the classification quick index function. The functional logic is consistent with the alphabetical index function.
Window Mode - Alphabetical Sort
The alphabetical sorting function is a new function in the V23Beta3 stage. In the RC version, the display of index letters has been optimized, and the display of non-existent letters has been reduced by default. Users can quickly focus on the first letters that need to be filtered.
Window mode-my favorites and recent installations
Compared with the Beta3 version, the original "My Favorites" and "All Apps" have been cropped. If you need to collect it, you can drag the application to the top of the menu list in the window free sorting mode to use it.
"My Frequently Used" will be recorded based on the number of times the user clicks on commonly used applications on the launcher, taskbar, and desktop, and will be displayed in the My Frequently Used area.
Recently installed, it will not appear in the taskbar by default, but when you install a new application and it is not started, it will be displayed by default under the common area of the launcher, prompting recently installed unused applications.
Window mode-quick access
Each version has different audiences at different stages. Quick access to files is also a function that some users consider crucial. This version returns the quick access function in window mode in version 20.
Introduction to RC taskbar functions
Commonly used areas on the left side of the taskbar
●Workspace (similar to "Multitasking Desktop"): Located on the left side of the taskbar, you can quickly switch workspace views by clicking on it, or close redundant workspaces by clicking on "Multitasking View" in the taskbar-application area (When the workspace is equal to 1, the icon display will be hidden);
●Clipboard and global search: The display priority of these two functions has been improved. You can quickly use it by clicking the clipboard or global search on the left side of the taskbar. You can also hide the clipboard and global search plug-ins through Control Center-Personalization and not display them on the taskbar;
the specific operation and display effects are as follows:
How to display the centered application area to the left
● When you install an application for the first time, it will be displayed in the center of the taskbar by default. If you are used to displaying it on the left side, you can right-click on the blank space of the taskbar and select the application layout that suits you.
Why is there no efficient and fashionable mode?
●The current taskbar does not use the two display forms of tiled and rounded corners in the previous version in terms of window display. It adopts the tiled and bottom-mounted display method as a whole, so there is no obvious change in the appearance of fashion and efficiency.
●The application indicator style also adopts an adaptive method when dragging the taskbar height. If the original menu item adjustment mode is retained and only the application position changes, it will be misleading to old users. This version of the taskbar right-click menu has cut the "Mode" option and added application layout.
Apply folding tray
Many users reported during the beta phase of using V23 that the tray icon was not displayed after the application was opened. In fact, we folded and displayed all tray application icons by default and managed the tray icons centrally by default. If you need the icon to be displayed in the tray for a long time, you can drag it to the tray. The tray will record the status and will not be displayed in the folded area when it is opened next time.
How to manage the icons in the shortcut panel after dragging them to the tray?
The original intention of the shortcut panel is to centrally manage commonly used plug-ins in the system, so that users can quickly access them through the shortcut panel without occupying tray space. After dragging the plug-in to the tray, if there are too many plug-ins in the tray, you can manage them in Control Center - Personalization - Desktop if you want to cancel.
gossip
Some of the original functions are grayed out in RC, and these functions will be supported in subsequent versions.
The requirements reported in V20 or V23Beta3 are not supported in the new taskbar and launcher. It is thought that we are only refactoring the interface. In fact, this is not the case. The planning of many functions depends on the new window pipe, launcher, and task. Only after the column framework is perfected can it implement more functions.
There are still many small BUGs, which are also known problems when we release them. When the Release is released, our goal is to fix them all so that the version can be used in the production environment.
There is no distinction between efficient and fashion modes in the RC version, and it will return to fashion mode in the iteration process of later versions. The current workspace view is displayed on the taskbar by default, and will only be hidden when it is 1. This is not the final state, and custom functions will be provided in the future.
Everyone is welcome to discuss and make suggestions, and give clear demand background and expectations. All reasonable suggestions will be the direction for our subsequent optimization and iteration. After the collection is completed, I will give you a clear reply here!
