greetings deepin forum. sorry for i don't know chinese but i hope some of you can understand my post.

i have just returned from guangzhou, where i installed linux for my friend who liked the fire effect (compiz) on the menus in cylon linux that i was checking out(although cylon linux couldn't install chinese language). she had some questions about linux and seemed interested enough that she wanted me to install it on her netbook.

i have set it up to dual boot with the xp already on the netbook. i spent a lot of time tweaking and customizing it and adding new softwares, but she will not use it because she can not use qq, and says that "this is why no one uses linux, there's no software", and continues running xp.

i did some research and told her there's no native QQ for linux, but there's the web QQ which she hates and refuses to use. says it looks different and is slow, "no good".

i found the java QQ and installed JRE 8 and there's open jdk already installed, but i cannot get the java QQ to run. i checked that the run as executable is selected and it is, but i still cannot get this program to run. it seems relatively up to date and i've emailed the developer who has not responded(over 2 weeks have passed).

i know QQ is huge in china, so someone here must be running it or tried before? any tips on how to get it running on her netbook?

thanks xie xie

ruanjianzhongxin.pngThe java QQ maybe used in  cellphone, I think. I use wineqq. You can search deepinwine-qqintl in the software center and install it, as shown in the figure.

thanks for the replies. she is running ubuntu but not deepin unfortunately, is there a deepin ppa i can add so i can install it for her?

also, with regards to the java qq, maybe it is for some mobile devices, but i tried to install it according to this how to here http://handytutorial.com/install-qq-ins ... 2-1012-04/ but i've not had any luck with it.

setting permissions to run as executable didn't help. as you can see, it is installed in a regular ubuntu desktop. the link for the nightly download is dead but i have found the site with a relatively recent version of qq java which now i cannot find, i wanted to post a link to it here. if i find it later i will edit this post to add the link.

as to the sourceforge link, i can't find any .deb or binary of any sort to download and i don't know how to compile from source, sorry. too bad qq doesn't have a native version for debian especially since reportedly, ubuntu kylin is the official os of china. :-/

yeah ! Iqq is very useful . I like it , wineqq is so stupid without unstable style . The third part are based on smart QQ or webqq .

i have set the permissions to execute but no luck with that.

i have also tried to DL the link for the qq2.1 for linux, and although i'm able to download it, the gdebi installer freezes and i can't kill it or anything.

my friend's computer is a netbook and deepin won't run on it, but is there a way to add a ppa that contains the wineqq package?
