For example, if I play a YouTube video I'll miss the first 2 seconds before the sound kicks in. Is this a known thing that happens for a lot of people, or just me?

Hi, I have not experienced this issue or seen any reports of. What browser are you using to play YouTube ? and does it only occur on browser based playback ?

It happens on Firefox and Chrome after for the first video or after a long pause. I think its something do with ALSA. Probably a feature that cuts out static if it was there. I'll have to get my hands on some headphones to see if its specific to my SPDIF Logitech speakers or not.
