My Deepin Movie player works good but I do not have a AVI movie to try.. VLC works with almost any file format..

Well I have multiple computers with Deepin auto login works perfect. So I think your account lock out was caused by something else.

Okay so on your computer Deepin Movie Player does not open at all then. I have not encountered that before. The AVI file format is a special format that not all players can play. But your problem is different. If you have not been able to get the initial settings back with the xorg driver then maybe best to reinstall to get every thing fresh start ?

If the Nvidia proprietary driver is not uninstalling correctly and your having lock out problems then yes I would if it were my laptop.

There is also the possibility that Deepin movie player is in conflict with the proprietary driver you were trying to use.that did not fully uninstall.

Shame because I really like the deepin movie interface

Sorry to hear I like the Deepin movie interface also But seems it fix problem of not starting at all..
Have you tried smplayer ?

Playing movies on a older computer takes a lot of system resources. I see you already mentioned smplayer is a lighter weight player compared to vlc

I do not know the cause but tonight I can not open movies..... I have switched to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau driver and uninstalled nvidia driver but nothing is changed, someone can help me?
