Sometimes we have to use our logic. When you introduce a new desktop and operating system Deepin, it is mistake to combine something new DDE desktop with something unstable, operating system like Debian sid. Why because the result will be unstable when you use both to be unstable. Bleeding edge OS you can apply at mature desktop like gnome or xfce, unity where it is fork of gnome we see the results.

The majority of the people they want stable operating system like Windows, Android=Linux kernel and from Linux, Linux Mint, Debian.

If you want to be an experimental release then you do Deepin rolling release like Deepin 15, and you harvest the results accordingly.

I do not think the DW review was correct. First of all the DW review on on feb 1 seems to be on Deepin 15, and DW announced on jan 29 they had version Deepin 15.1
Then they try to do a experimental btrfs install and a virtual box install when when the Deepin clearly recommends against. Then the reviewer contiues to say he could not update from the store when clearly the updates can be done from the control panel. Just beacause its based on Debian(sid) does not mean Deepin is blindly pushing all updates from (sid). The developers are carefully choosing what is needed in my opinion.Clearly the Deepin 15.1 is new young and exciting but, I do not agree with the so-called experts in negativity.

Personally as lenovo g50-30 user I expect to work the laptop as Chinese brand name out of the box. For example the sounds I can not deactivate from the pannel because you can not activate and de activate them except the one that enters the system. After update of 15 to 15.1 I can not see the hidden files because the check box do not work.
The panel lost the shortcuts I put there personally.
Imagine after updates to lose the wifi, or not to boot any more.
If Deepin is confident to apply a live usb, Dvd version and to allow people to check it before installation.
People they want stable release, bleeding edge apply to LibreOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome etc not to all things.
Linux Mint respect the user and informs them that update or upgrade of kernel can cause unpleasant issues category 5 red.
I found Deepin very innovative operating system and my criticism is to make it better. If we over estimate something that is not ready yet this can turn as boomerang.

Well you have some points. I am just saying I do not agree with distro watch. One of the nice things about Deepin is the User feed Back tool in your applications works good. As far as a few of the things you just mention. In control panel under sound effects there are 15 things to enable or disable. I have 4 machines running Deepin 15.1 and I able to see hidden files on them okay. I have not lost any short cuts yet. And yes a Live USB would be a good idea.

I really don't agree with you. Ubuntu itself is based of Debian Sid with extra control/changes/freezes of selected pachages. There also several other distros out there that are based of Debian Sid and very good. If Deepin developers do a proper control of the updates from Debian Sid and test that they are in good working order before releasing them in the Deepin repository then that is a non issue. In fact it is more realiable than if you install Debian Sid directly. It's the best of both worlds. Good job, Deepin!

Deepin it is very nice desktop and os but it is very young as desktop, which means more to take care in combination with the unstable packages that come from Debian sid.
Ubuntu is more mature with Unity now and that helps to concentrate more at packets and libraries of applications.
I understand that the pressing of Deepin team to manage both (desktop and os) is huge by leaving the security of Ubuntu. The challenge is big and I wish Deepin to succeed. It could be a nice os for smart phones, tablets, and laptops, just the competition it is so big with Android on the arena, that the stability and flexibility must be on top.

I think the rank is very good considering in previous years it was not even in the top 50 Besides it does not mean much any way the distro watch calculations are just page hits. not actual downloads and not a measure of if they are actually using the distro. I can think a few that are not in the top 20 that should be and some that are in the top 10 should not, based on votes reviews at other sites.

The rank is not good considering the growing way have followed the most stable and popular Distros after their major release, I speak about Linux Mint and Debian. This doesn't happen yet at Deepin after the major release on December, unfortunately follows different direction. But with hard work and consistency this can be change. The user in general two things wants functionality and stability.

It could take years for any one to catch up to Debian. or Red Hat. Linux mint appeals to windows users new to linux but its based on Debian just like ubuntu. I think the last several versions of ubuntu were junk in my opinion. released with no quality control just preparing for the next LTS release.
I switched to Deepin 15 because I like the desktop enviroment and they are no longer based on ubuntu. I am very happy with Deepin 15.1 its been years since my ageing quad monitor work station performed well on Linux. I will stick with Deepin as long as my quad monitor work station performs well.

I will be glad when Deepin comes out with there own file manager. That is one of there main priorities right now because the nautilus file manager bug report is not nice.

I agree about Ubuntu, they do test drive on the users computers to release their stable versions on the production laptops, phones and now tablet. That's why I didn't mention at all Ubuntu. Mint on the other hand it does very clever it takes from both, Ubuntu directly and Debian through LMD. Something tells me that we will see Linux Mint Deepin Desktop since it is based on Gnome and now there is space because KDE will not be supported.

Clement has a good team there. Deepins's roots come from gnome but has since evolved into some thing else. Especially with this years version based on the Gala windows manager Qt and HTML 5 technology. If you were to take out the multimedia it would almost be considered a corporate class distribution. Can you think of any other distro that has remote assistance built into the control panel ?

Clement seems to go with what his community wants. If there was enough interest from his community he may consider it.as long as it was technically feasible.
