some apps are built for other desktop environments and hence might not act correctly in other environments by not asking administrator password. a workaround would be to run the program from the terminal using one of the methods given... example: do this command in terminal "sudo (name of program)"... it will ask u for your password and then will run the program with root priviledges

"username is not Root. you need to run with root privileges. please use kdseudo, gksu or sudo/sux"
Please advise, I'm newbie.
