I did a sudo apt-get install icedtea-plugin and it installed just fine. But chromium no longer supports java so have to use firefox.

for firefox you can do a sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

Please don't forget that Deepin has changed its base in version 15. Now it's based on Debian.

Ah, I see now... with the correct nomenclature, then

sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree

installs the flash that chromium needs to run correctly.

Apparently this

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

is NOT the way to go. Flashplayer is crashing on everything.

The flash in google chrome works best. I only use firefox for the java and pipelight.

I reinstalled Google Chrome and everything works fine in it... That's good news for now, but Google is dropping support for 32bit Chrome for Linux

Although, wait a minute... Deepin 15 is Debian-based now- Debian 8? So is it affected for us or not?

Deepin 15 is based off of Debian jessie

This is ever so important; I try to spread the Linux love all over my town. I HAVE TO have a distro that is easy to use; and, unfortunately, it has to be able to handle Facebook games or people won't like it. I know Google Chrome will work with the silly little games on Facebook, and now that I see it IS supported for Debian jessie, I'm in the clear.

Reading through the Deepin wiki, I am seeing that I might be in err in running 32 bit versions on some of these machines I play with. I have been concerned in the past that just because the processor was 64 bit, what about the other hardware- is it 64 bit capable? I should save that for another post.

So, the results are in,
if you need Java & FlashPlayer functioning in your browser, USE GOOGLE CHROME, which is the default browser in Deepin 15 to begin with.

I'm not sure. I try to stick with the Long Term Support. It seems that Ubuntu is already messing with 16 now.... That I don't understand; they are not even done with 15, now they are developing 16?!

Knowing that Chromium and flash won't work bums me a lot.  I prefer Chromium over Chrome any day.  I didn't know it made such a difference to be based on Ubuntu or Debian.  I probably won't be on this distro very long.
