Hi Deepin team,

I found a keyboard layout issue in deepin 25.2.2 when using the Treeland / Wayland session.

My keyboard is Brazilian ABNT2 and the selected layout is Portuguese (Brazil).

The layout works correctly in the normal X11 session, but in Treeland it is not applied correctly.

For example, I cannot type characters such as:

ç, ã, õ, á, é

and some punctuation/accent keys are mapped incorrectly.

I checked the Deepin keyboard configuration manually:

gsettings get com.deepin.dde.keyboard layout

Result:

'br;'

I also explicitly set:

gsettings set com.deepin.dde.keyboard user-layout-list "['br;']"
gsettings set com.deepin.dde.keyboard layout 'br;'

The configuration remains correctly saved as br;, but Treeland still does not use the Brazilian layout.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start deepin 25.2.2 using Treeland.
  2. Select Portuguese (Brazil) as the keyboard layout.
  3. Log out/in if necessary.
  4. Try typing ç, accents or ABNT2 punctuation keys.

Expected behavior:

Treeland should use the selected Portuguese (Brazil) / ABNT2 keyboard layout.

Actual behavior:

Deepin saves the correct br; configuration, but Treeland does not apply it.

System information:

  • deepin 25.2.2
  • Treeland / Wayland session
  • Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard
  • Portuguese (Brazil) layout
  • Same keyboard works correctly under X11

This makes Treeland difficult to use for Portuguese-speaking users because normal typing requires characters such as ç and accented letters.

I can provide logs or test possible fixes if needed.

Thank you!

Temporary workaround found for pt-BR / ABNT2 in Treeland

I can confirm this bug is still present in deepin 25.2.2 with Treeland / Wayland.

However, I found a temporary workaround that makes the Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard work correctly in Treeland.

The issue seems to be that Treeland does not correctly apply the saved br; keyboard layout from DDE.

In my case, the workaround was to inject the XKB settings directly into treeland.service:

sudo mkdir -p /etc/systemd/system/treeland.service.d
printf '[Service]\nEnvironment=XKB_DEFAULT_LAYOUT=br\nEnvironment=XKB_DEFAULT_MODEL=abnt2\nEnvironment=XKB_DEFAULT_VARIANT=\nEnvironment=XKB_DEFAULT_OPTIONS=\n' | sudo tee /etc/systemd/system/treeland.service.d/90-abnt2.conf
sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo reboot

After rebooting, Treeland started using the correct Portuguese (Brazil) / ABNT2 layout, including characters like:

ç ã õ á é

So this may be a useful temporary workaround for affected users until the bug is fixed officially.

To revert this workaround:

sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/treeland.service.d/90-abnt2.conf
sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo reboot

System information:

  • deepin 25.2.2
  • Treeland / Wayland
  • Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard
  • pt-BR layout

I hope this helps other users and also helps the developers identify where the keyboard layout is not being applied correctly in Treeland.
