Dear deepin Community Members,

Hello everyone!

The deepin 25.1 beta (System Version: 25.0.10) has now been officially released to the beta channel. This push is an internal beta version, featuring multiple functional optimizations, fixes for high-frequency issues reported by community users, and improvements to the application experience.

New Features:

  1. Control Center - System - Developer Options: Added a Solid System Read-Only Protection toggle to safely unlock write permissions for system directories while retaining snapshot and rollback security.
  2. Support for permanent file deletion when data disk space is low: Resolves the issue of being unable to clean files due to a full recycle bin, ensuring smooth file cleanup operations.

Optimizations:

  1. Under multi-screen scenarios, when the laptop lid is closed, the external display automatically switches to the primary screen: Resolves the issue of the external display becoming unusable after closing the lid, ensuring work continuity (requires setting the laptop lid closing action to "Take No Action" in Power Management).
  2. Increased clickable area for taskbar icons: Improves app launch accuracy and ease of use, reducing misclicks.
  3. Enhanced visual feedback for selected desktop icons with a prominent background color: Makes it easier to distinguish selected icons during multi-select operations.
  4. Calculator now automatically adapts to Control Center regional formats: Syncs decimal point symbols (e.g., "," or ".") and other localization settings to prevent recognition errors and calculation mistakes.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed an issue where taskbar app icons were duplicated in certain scenarios.

Fixed an issue where starred emails in the POP protocol mailbox appeared as duplicates.

Fixed an issue where the "Natural Scrolling" toggle for Bluetooth mice did not take effect after being enabled.

Fixed an issue where custom themes were lost after updating Terminal to version 6.0.18.

Permanently resolved the issue of repeated update prompts in the Control Center's "Check for Updates" module.

Thank you, guys, for the great job on improving Deepin 25!

我很谢谢你们!

I have tested for some hours and it feels quite solid on X11.

I have been trying to use mainly Treeland and the improvements on it have been quite apparent already. To begin with, text looks much crisper on Wayland now. I couldn't even use Treeland a couple months back. I would get stuck in a black screen error and had to revert changes with command lines back to X11 to make the system work again. Maybe it was an Nvidia issue then. I couldn't figure out.

After some system updates, it started to work. Treeland would usually look good when you first start the system, but, before this beta, if you did any changes to monitor refresh rate and scaling, text on the system menus would look quite blurish and would ramdonly get logged off there was nothing I could do to fix. Not anymore. I can change configurations all I want and and text looks clean and crisp.

Only issue I have had (on Treeland) so far is that I cannot change (on Personalisation) to optimal performance (in Window Effects), so I have to use with the animations on Wayland and (due to the transparency of the Dock, I think?) I get some instability there. So far, though, the biggest problem is that I can't watch video files on Wayland because the players - SMPlayer and MPC Qute Theather (via Flatpak) and MPV (via Linyaps) never go fullscreen properly. On the bottom of screen the Dock vanishes when the player goes fullscreen, but instead of the video taking up its space, the Dock vanishes but the wallpaper shows up in its place while the rest of the screen is the video. It doesn't seem to be a issue with the players but I wouldn't be able to tell anyways.

Aside from that, UOS AI does not open on Wayland. I imagine you are probably aware of that.

Thank you again for the hard work! Deepin 25 has been my main distro for everything since the middle of the year.
