Dear deepin Community Members,

Hello everyone!

The deepin 25.1 beta (System Version: 25.0.8) has now been officially released to the beta channel! This update brings optimizations and fixes focused on multiple areas including File Manager, Input Method, and System Monitor, aiming to further enhance system stability and user experience.

【New Features】

File Manager

● The system will temporarily disable standby during file operations (copying, deleting, burning, etc.) to prevent task interruptions.

● Added support for setting remarks on mounted network shared directories for easier identification.

● Added a "File Shredder" toggle in settings. Enabling it adds the option to permanently delete files via the right-click menu.

● When sorting files by "Type," documents are now grouped by format extensions (e.g., docx, txt, pdf), aggregating files of the same format for quicker access.

● New Office documents will be created using modern formats (docx, xlsx, pptx) to enhance compatibility.

● Added an external device write policy option: Default real-time sync mode enabled, allowing direct removal after file transfer without safe ejection.

Input Method

● Integrated WuBi98 Edition input method. Install via fcitx5-table-wubi98 manually, then enable under Control Center > Devices > Keyboard > Input Method Management.

Text Editor

● Linked "Find" and "Replace" functions to improve text-editing efficiency.

System Monitor

● Added "Average Frequency" parameter to the CPU details view and refined "Max Frequency" labeling for more intuitive performance monitoring.

● Default retry logic for failed email sending has been optimized to prioritize automatic system retries.

Other

● Linyaps: Base and runtime environments now update synchronously during upgrades.

● DDE: Added support for removing the papirus-icon-theme package.

● Treeland: Window titles are now displayed in multi-task view.

【Bug Fixes】

● File Manager: Fixed issues including missing compression options in admin mode context menus, inability to rename desktop app icons, abnormal display during filename extension hiding, and missing filenames when selecting two files.

● Taskbar & Input Methods: Resolved untranslated context menu items, incomplete command display for some apps, and touchpad settings reapplying after reboot despite being disabled in Control Center.

● App-Specific Fixes: Fixed UI anomalies such as folded toolbar icon glitches in Calendar/Album/Voice Memos apps, malfunctioning fade effects in Music app, and abnormal CPU process detection in System Monitor.

● Screenshot/OCR Tools: Addressed icon display errors in dark mode for screenshot/recording tools, and eliminated the requirement to save images locally before OCR text extraction.

● System-Level Fix: Removed unnecessary sudo privilege requirement for using the ping command.

【Known Issues Pending Fix】

  • Third-party Theme Compatibility: The update to version 25.0.7 included adjustments to the underlying system theme mechanism. This may cause some third-party themes installed by users to fail to apply correctly. Our engineering team is actively working on a rollback fix. However, due to the extensive scope of the original changes, the related fix is not included in this 25.0.8 version to ensure overall stability. Therefore, using third-party themes in the current version may still be problematic. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and will complete and release the fix in a subsequent update as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

【Future Update Plan】

According to the community release plan, the team is currently fully dedicated to the development of deepin 25.1. The features included in this beta test will be pushed to the stable channel only after they are thoroughly stabilized. Consequently, there might be no further version updates in the stable channel in the immediate near future, as the focus will be on beta iterations to ensure the final stable release of deepin 25.1.
