Hello, Deepin Friends,

So much is great with Deepin v25 Beta. I also appreciate the way v23 was given some of the enhancements we see in the new version. Note that my comments are from an American's point of view, so my software solutions are fairly regional.

  • Stay with Debian. I have seen distros remain stable by sticking with the Debian base. This makes it possible to add many of the best 3rd-party applications to Deepin by adding a PPA. This especially is true with specialized stuff like Insync, Bitwig, or other .debs.

  • On that same subject, using Flatpaks is a better way to add most software instead of adding PPAs, so I check there first BEFORE adding a PPA. Seems to me that while Linyaps appear to be working fine, and I use them for some things, keeping Flatpak and Appimige compatability is wise. I suppose there are cultural differences in software choices that make Linyaps attractive for people in China. It's just a shame that efforts have to be divided to make packages for Linyaps and Flatpaks.

  • It is almost impossible to add a use picture in the user settings due to a strange glitch when cenerting or resizing a photo. Strange

  • Treeland/Wayland is cool. Unfortunately it is buggy as hell. Fun to see where things might go, however. I prefer X11 on Deepin at this time and hope it remains an option. Maybe the XLibre project will prove to be robust enough to allow an updated version of X11 to be used. X11 on Deepin feels similar to using Wayland on KDE.

  • Window tiling needs to be modernized. Could be like Windows 11 (using keyboard or dragging to pop-down at top of screen), or like KDE Plasma does it (better). Plasma's adjustible tiling spaces is really nice to use.

I am looking forward to the release candidate of v25. Keep up the good work and know your all are appreciated.

-Scott
