2025-05-17 04:18 Another couple of things I noticed-
English text is fuzzy, depending on the app, with Wayland. I'm looking for a KDE-like subhinting adjustment but have not found it yet.
I don't use Deepin's music app. It never seems to see everything in my music folder, maybe because I have it arranged into Music/[artist]/[albumn]/song file. Strawberry picks everything up just fine.
-Thanks

Hello, fellow Deepinders,
I installed v25 Alpha via Ventoy, and it is the only way I found to make the installer work from a USB stick.
VERY IMPORTANT- AFTER INSTALLATION, BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THIS POST BY THE DEEPIN TEAM:
https://bbs.deepin.org/en/post/287125
Installing that script BEFORE upgrading the system makes all the difference. I know, I don't like reading instructions either.
Here's what I found:
Switching to Treeland/Wayland demonstrates the best of what the engineers are going for. While some of the shortcut keys do not work on my wired AZIO keyboard, the whole experience of the animations and shadows is remarkable.
OBS cannot record the desktop, at least in Treeland/Wayland.
Thanks for trickling down some of the aesthetic features to v23, my daily driver.
Thanks for retaining the Debian compatibility. I was able to instal some of my mission-critical apps through the .deb package installer.
Thanks for retaining the Flatpak compatibility. The setup instruction on Flathub for Deepin still works fine. I did have to log in/out to get the apps to appear in the menu.
Yes, there are some glitches and such on this alpha release. Yet it is fun to use every now and then on my extra drive. I am excited to see what the beta version has to offer. I'll add to this post as I explore v25 further.
THANKS!
