I'm having a serious issue where updating from Deepin 15.5 to 15.6 has broken my Deepin.
Now when I turn on the computer, I see the blue grub Deepin meny but when it goes to load 15.6 the screen just stays black foverever.

I was able to boot into Deepin Recover and see that Boot repair returns:

Installing for i386-pc platform.
grub-install: error: cannot find a GRUB drive for /dev/nvme0n1p.  Check your device.map.

I installed rescatux on a USB and tried their auto repair but still no luck.
I am really stuck and would appreciate any support.

Thank you Billy but I tried that before and it works but doesn't fix the boot issue. Deepin Recovery's DPKG repair always works.

No luck with the old kernel. I am going to try Deepin Clone via recovery environment and see if I can backup / reinstall Deepin. Not sure how I'm going to get old users and data back after?

Okay, the backup went well. Booting to Deepin I saw an error about firmware. So I updated the motherboards firmware. That went well.

Making a fresh boot disk of Deepin and booting into it ALSO goes to a black screen. Interesting.
To verify this I've created an Antergos bootdisk and successfully installed that on the same computer.

Therefore, something to do with Deepin 15.6 is incompatiple with my computer. This was not the case for 15.5.
What could cause this black screen? Why would Antergos install and not Deepin. I can hit 'Install Deepin' but black loads instead of the installer.
Please help

Thank you Wang. I will keep an eye out for it, it could be really helpful.
I've spent another afternoon on the problem and found that it boots to black due to graphics card. I have an AMD RX 480 Sapphire.
When I press 'e' to edit the boot entry and change 'quiet splash' to 'nomodeset' it will at least boot well.
I have been able to recover my Deepin from the image and log in.

How do I fix the driver issue so that my screen can go full resolution like before?
The Deepin Graphics Driver manager only has one option 'Use AMD Card Driver' and the Deepin Driver only has 'Intel Microcode'.

More research and I cannot get the driver to work correctly so that 'nomodeset' is not needed. What do I do?

Hi, I have the same issue, the Deepin 15.6 image don't boot unless I add "nomodeset" to grub, the same for the installed system.

I opened a thread here:

I hope we can have support for our graphic cards back...

Thanks...
