    I am new at this.
    I have a envy hp 15-j003la
    The sound is heard low. I tried with alsa-tools-gui as in linux mint, but did not turn the sound on and off.

    Subwoofer off ??

    Try 'pavucontrol' to adjust 'Playback' and 'Output Devices' volume.
