I was running Windows 10 and it suddenly crashed. And what i see after reboot was shocking: GRUB has gone, there's only GRUB rescue. In normal case i would create a live USB from the distro's iso and chroot to the installed system to reinstall GRUB, but Deepin doesn't have a live system. What can i do? Can i reinstall GRUB from another debian-based distro (eg. GParted Live)?

Hello. one way to reinstall grub is to install the synaptic package manager (sudo apt-get install synaptic). After install, it will show up as one of your apps. Open it and scroll to grub within the installed apps and there you will have the option to reinstall grub. I believe the grub package you want to reinstall is " grub-pc". This has worked for me.

Just thought I would mention, from my own experience, that W10 is not nice in a dual boot situation. I would suggest setting W10 as the default OS, or as the first to boot OS, for when W10 updates it needs to be able to start and restart your pc, and if it can't it may break things such as grub. Good luck.

I would 'burn' the Plop Boot Manager ISO to a flash drive and open Deepin, or use parted magic to restore GRUB tough it might be better to do it trough deepin.

Thanks! With Super GRUB disk I could easily boot into Deepin and reinstall the grub packages. And I have changed the primary 'OS' to Windows Boot loader, since I'm multibooting Deepin with Win8.1 and Win10.
