1400x900 Resolution on Thinkpad T410

The interface would not maximize the entire screen, it would have a black line on both sides maybe a quarter of an inch. But if I set the screen resolution to 1280x800 then the entire screen will be used.

I think it's because Lenovo Thinkpad screen reso are:
Display            14.1" LED Matte 16:10 WXGA+ (1440x900)
            14.1" LED Matte 16:10 WXGA (1280x800)

So I'm basically missing the 40 on the 1440. Will there be a fix for this? Now I can set it to 1280x800, but the fonts is not that sharp compared to the 1400x900.

I used to have an old hannspree monitor with the opposite problem, it was adding 40 to the 1440. I was able fine tune the resolution with simple xrandr commands.
